Hanging A Pool Table Light

Hanging A Pool Table Light

When it comes to you hanging a pool table light and you feel you have the necessary skills of course this is something that you can do yourself.   But if you are at all concerned that you may not place it in the correct position or the correct height it is worth employing a professional to do the work.

But actually installing a pool table light isn’t as hard as you first imagined.   Below we take you through the steps needed to carry out this work yourself.   Plus of course you need to make sure that you have the right tools with you to complete the job.   Also it may be advisable to ask one or two friends to assist you whilst the work is being carried.   This is important as someone will need to hold the light fixture whilst you prepare the cabling to provide the energy to power the bulbs in it.

Along with the pool table light you will also need a level, some open end screw hooks and of course a screwdriver.   Once you have all these items together then of course work can begin on hanging pool table light.   But before you do commence work remember to turn off power to the room where the light is to be installed.   You don’t want to get a nasty shock as you connect the wires from the light to the socket in the ceiling.

Now let us go through the steps you will need to take in order to install the billiards table light you have purchased.

Step 1 – It is important that you center the light not only along the length but also the width of the table correctly.   To do this use the white arrows to be found on the table rails.   It is important to center the light correctly to ensure that the whole table is illuminated.  Then mark points in the ceiling where the hooks to hold the chains of the light.

Step 2 – When you are screwing the open end screw hooks into the ceiling if at all possible try and place them through a beam.   This will help to make them more secure and will of course mean that they are easily able to carry the weight of the light when it is put in place at the end of the chains.

Step 3 – Once the hooks are in place and the chains have been attached you now need to measure the distance from the top of the table to the bottom of where the light is.   If you need to take some links out of the chain or just move the chain up several links on the hook.   What you need is the light to be no less than 36 inches above the tables playing surface.   This will ensure that the table is well illuminated when playing.

Step 4 – Finally before you can begin playing make sure that when hanging pool table light is level and this is where the level comes into play.  This is very crucial if the light you have installed comes with two chains rather than one.
